Hot Spring Narrative

Bhutan has a number of places with hot springs, where thousands of people throng in the winter. The hot springs are believed to have been extracted or blessed by a holy personage such as Guru Rinpoche. People go to bathe in the hot springs for months as they believe in the healing power of the springs. Bathing in the hot springs is one of the two main reasons for people to take time off from work for a long period, the other bring pilgrimage. People mostly frequent the hot springs in winter as it is too hot for the summer. They camp close to the bathing point and spend entire days and nights immersed in the hot water.
