Fire Ritual

The rite of burning various substances in fire as religious sacrificial ritual is common among Indian religions. In Bhutan, the fire rituals are conducted for various reasons. Many kinds of cereals, plants and other substances are poured into the fire along with oil as an offering. The fire is often visualized as an enlightened deity. There are fire rituals of different nature conducted for different purposes. These are usually categorized according to the four activities of peaceful, intensifying magnetizing and wrathful nature.
