Exorcism

This category overlaps with "Protection rituals" (bsrung) and "Destruction rituals" (grol, bsad), as the three form a common triad bsrung bzlog bsad gsum.

Protection rituals usually anticipate the attack of opposing forces, providing a first line of defense before an attack takes place. Exorcisms, on the other hand, usually serve to turn back attacks that have already taken place. In extreme cases, enemies (humans or spirits) may be killed using destructive rituals.
