Autonomous Prefecture
This signifies that the named ethnic minority predominates within that area - such as Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (TAP, bod rigs rang skyong khul, Chi. Zangzu zi zhi zhou - zang is bod, zu is rigs), or Yi Autonomous Prefecture. Autonomous regions have prefectures. Note: there can be Autonomous Prefectures within Autonomous Regions if the people have a different preponderant 'nationality.' The Mongol equivalents to prefectures are 'Banners.'
