Languages and Dialects

Due to Bhutan's physical topography composed of high mountains, deep valleys, big rivers and thick forests, people have lived in isolation for generations giving rise to many different languages and hundreds of dialects. This diversity of languages and dialects is now fast diminishing as Bhutan is undergoing modern development and being exposed to globalisation which has led to the unprecedented covergence of the people.
