Folk Song/Dance

Before the spread of modern audio-visual media such as television, films and internet, the songs with various tunes and dances with different choreographical movements were the main forms of people's artistic expressions. These happy or melancholic expressions were mainly inspired by impressions of nature or by religious experience. Thus the contents and themes of most of the Bhutanese traditional songs also dwell on nature or religion. There are many types of songs and dances based on the regions and the style of performance.
