Chanting

Recitation and reading religious texts and prayers form a major element of the Bhutanese religious tradition. Prayers are chanted every day and for every facet of life either from memory or using a book which contains an collection of core prayers. Traditional Bhutanese would chant prayers while they are not talking and spend holy days reciting prayers. Religious scriptures including the canons are are read as part of religious practice and rituals for well being. Like the Christian Book of Hours, Bhutanese Buddhist schools also profusely use a compendium of common prayers.
