Reciting Prayer

Recitation of mantras and prayers forms a fundamental aspect of Bhutanese Buddhist traditions. The essential prayers are compiled in a volume called choechod, which is used profusely by the devotees. This volume contains prayers and chantings for all kinds of purposes but the number, variety and order of prayers may vary from religious school to school. People often hold a rosary while saying their prayers either from the memory or by reading the book.
