Religious History

As religion was the main source of philosophical and historical thinking, most of the historical writings also concern the history of religious teachings, traditions and transmissions. There are a number of national religious histories which contain a wealth of information on not only the foundation and propagation of religious traditions but also give us a wonderful insight into the socio-political developments. In addition to religious history books, there are a great number of religious books such as catalogues, records of transmission, hagiographies and pilgrimage guides which contain historical information.
