Repulsion

The Bhutanese world is full of magic and wonder. Religious persons are often attributed magical powers which they have cultivated through meditation and chanting of mantras and prayers. People believe that malicious priests use magical powers to harm their opponents. Thus, there are many rituals which are designed to repel the forces of black magical power. Priests undertake elaborate tantric rituals to expose and repel the magical powers by cultivating magical power themselves through the practice of meditation, chanting of mantras and visualisation of deities. The rituals are considered as esoteric in nature and not widely practised.
